30. Hwi Nories Audience With Leto

God Emperor Of Dune — Résumé 🇺🇸 English

Hwi Noree is summoned by the God Emperor Leto from her ambassadorial office in Onn, leaving behind her unpleasant assistant Othwi Yake. Guided by a Fish Speaker through a deep, windowless spiral ramp decorated with a scentless Tunyon vine, Hwi ponders the nature of Leto, Moneo, and Duncan Idaho while descending into the subterranean chamber. Upon entering Leto's low-ceilinged room, Hwi finds him positioned in a sunken area to minimize his physical intimidation. Their conversation touches on her Ixian background, disguised histories, and the terrifying revelation that her entire Embassy staff, including Othwi Yake, had been infiltrated and replaced by Face Dancers before being eliminated by the Fish Speakers and the Reverend Mother Anteac. Leto and Hwi discuss the origins of his divinity, starting from his control over the Fremen death water and the engineered religion of the Sisterhood. Leto reveals the immense psychological horror of his transformation: his awareness will be endlessly fragmented and subdivided among every sandworm and sandtrout, existing as a mute, trapped consciousness in an eternal dream. Despite her shock and fear, Hwi shows profound empathy for his terrible burden. The meeting culminates with Leto declaring his intention to make Hwi his bride, acknowledging that while physical intimacy is no longer possible for him, he would choose the father if she desired children. Deeply shaken, terrified, and overwhelmed by his raw vulnerability and perfection, Hwi recognizes that she is irrevocably drawn to him and will inevitably obey his call to the Citadel.
