The Son of the Musketeers ArrivesInside the Saint Merri chapel, the young and brave Son of the Three Musketeers steps forward to defend the distressed Blanche Mignonne from a gang of spadassins. Armed with his rapier, the hero executes a powerful overhead spin that extinguishes all the candles and blows down the paintings on the wall, forcing the bandits back. As a massive thunderstorm rattles the chapel, Blanche Mignonne faints from terror. The hero leaps up a giant prie-dieu to catch her just as the bandits regroup to charge. A bolt of lightning strikes inside the chapel, but the young man courageously slashes the lightning bolt in half with his sword. The severed halves fall and strike down several bandits, driving the terrified survivors to flee.Upon reviving, Blanche Mignonne learns that her savior is the Son of the Three Musketeers, specifically descended from Athos, Porthos, and d'Artagnan. He helps her down and is delighted to discover she is the adopted daughter of Master Planchet, the grocer of the Pilon d Or on the Rue des Lombards, whom he was already traveling to visit. As they prepare to leave, two remaining spadassins ambush them from the street. The hero easily disarms both attackers, and his faithful, unique guard-sheep Brutus, a cross between a sheepdog and a ewe, chases down and bites one of the fleeing rogues.A loud commotion nearby draws their attention, leading them to find the hero's servant, Mille Hommes, fiercely battling an invisible enemy with a giant rapier. Mille Hommes triumphantly claims to have killed his foe, which turns out to be a single mosquito. He explains that he engaged the insect to prevent his master from being distracted during the ambush. Amused by the eccentric servant, they retrieve their horses and walk toward the Rue des Lombards, accompanied by Brutus.Along the way, they meet a worried Planchet. Blanche Mignonne explains how she was rescued from the trap, and Planchet joyfully embraces the young man, recognizing the features of his former masters in the hero's face. The group returns to the grocery store, where a thrilled Planchet instructs his servants to stable the horses and orders Dame Jeanne to prepare a magnificent feast with fine venison pies, poultry, and Anjou wine to celebrate the arrival of the Son of the Three Musketeers.
