Lara confronts her sister Marylyn, who has infiltrated Ithicana to exact bloody revenge and deliver her to their father. Marylyn reveals that she intercepted a secret letter written by Lara detailing Ithicana's defenses, exposing Lara as a spy to a devastated King Aren. As the bridge falls to Maridrinian forces and guards are slaughtered, chaos erupts across the islands.
During the ensuing struggle, a venomous snake bites Marylyn, and Lara kills her sister in a brutal fight to survive. Captured and bound by Aren, Lara is dragged through the muddy wilderness as enemy troops hunt them down. When they finally find shelter at dawn, Aren confronts her with the devastating proof of her betrayal and confesses that he once loved her, but that trust is now shattered beyond repair.
Heartbroken and furious, Aren cuts Lara loose and banishes her at arrowpoint, warning her never to return. Fleeing into the forest with a bleeding scratch on her face from his warning shot, Lara leaves behind the kingdom she helped destroy and the man she loves, utterly defeated by the consequences of her own actions.
