Following their repentance, humanity was sent forth to earth with the promise of divine guidance.
The narrative then addresses the Children of Israel, reminding them of historical blessings and trials. This includes their deliverance from Pharaoh through the parting of the sea, their repeated transgressions such as worshiping the golden calf in Moses’ absence, and their persistent complaints regarding provisions like manna and quails. Despite numerous miracles—including water springing from a rock when struck by Moses' staff and the command to sacrifice a heifer to resolve a murder—the Israelites frequently broke their covenants, disobeyed prophets, and altered scriptures. The text warns against hypocrisy among certain People of the Book who concealed or distorted divine revelations, engaged in magic learned from fallen angels in Babylon, and rejected later prophets out of jealousy and arrogance.
Furthermore, the passage emphasizes strict monotheism and the universality of divine judgment, dismissing exclusive claims to salvation made by Jews and Christians. It highlights the foundational role of Abraham, who, along with his son Ishmael, raised the foundations of the sacred House and prayed for a righteous community and a future messenger among them. The discourse stresses that true piety lies in complete submission to Allah, adherence to faith, and the performance of righteous deeds, warning that those who reject divine guidance and associate partners with Allah will face eternal punishment, whereas true believers are promised everlasting divine grace and reward.
