3.The Solitary Struggle in the Wilderness

Two months have passed as the narrative opens in the vast, untamed expanses of the North American Far West. This magnificent and perilous wilderness teems with a rich and diverse flora and fauna, dominated by the majestic presence of native Indian tribes who rule the plains. Amidst this grand yet indifferent landscape, a sudden disturbance breaks the silence near the Rio Gila as a desperate and exhausted man emerges from the bushes, accompanied only by his faithful dog. The man is known as Le Cedre Rouge, an experienced woodsman who now finds himself in a critical and perilous situation. Completely alone, without a horse or firearms except for a hunting knife, he faces the overwhelming reality of survival in a desert where a disarmed man is practically dead. Driven by necessity, he wanders through the plains under the blazing sun, enduring intense physical exhaustion and hunger while animals roam around him, seemingly aware of his helplessness. When night falls, he climbs a tree to secure a meager and terrifying refuge from the wild beasts prowling below. Enduring a night of torment and sleeplessness, Le Cedre Rouge continues his aimless march the following day under the punishing heat. Desperate for sustenance, he manages to find and consume a wild yuca root near the river, sharing a portion with his loyal canine companion. As he prepares to resume his exhausting journey, his keen eye catches a subtle irregularity in the thickness of the grass, suggesting the presence of a hidden cache left behind by hunters or travelers in the region. Motivated by a renewed spark of hope, the woodsman carefully uncovers the earth with his bare hands and broken knife after hours of arduous digging. His perseverance is rewarded when he discovers a hidden stash containing valuable hunting equipment, traps, and weapons. Fully re-equipped and regaining his fierce determination, Le Cedre Rouge prepares to take his revenge against whatever hardships or enemies lie ahead in the wilderness.
